How to send USDT to your wallet without mistakes

A simple checklist for sending USDT without losing money, from choosing the network to checking the hash on the block explorer.

Knowing how to send USDT to your wallet without mistakes is the most important skill for anyone using crypto. A blockchain transfer has no undo button: if the network or the address is wrong, the money may be lost. The good news is that a simple checklist prevents almost every mistake. That's what you'll find here.

Why you can't be too careful

With Pix, Brazil's instant payment system, there's still someone to turn to when something goes wrong: your bank, the Central Bank's refund mechanism for fraud (MED), the courts. On the blockchain, there isn't. A confirmed transaction is final. No one can pull it back, not even the platform that sent it.

So there's only one rule: check before, because you can't fix it after.

Step 1 — Find out your wallet's network

Open your wallet and tap Receive. Choose USDT. The wallet shows the address and the network: TRON, Ethereum or BNB Smart Chain.

Write the network down. That's the one you'll choose when sending. If the wallet offers several, pick one and stick with it for the transfer. Not sure? See which network to use to receive USDT.

Step 2 — Copy the address the right way

The address is a long code made of letters and numbers. Never type it by hand.

  • Use the wallet's Copy button or scan the QR code.
  • After pasting, check the first 4 to 6 characters and the last 4 to 6. If you can, check a few in the middle too.
  • Don't copy addresses from old messages, chats or your transaction history.

Why so much care? Because of two common scams:

  • Malware that swaps the address. Some malicious programs watch what you copy and replace the address with the scammer's when you paste.
  • Address poisoning. The scammer sends a tiny amount, or a fake token, from an address that looks very much like one you use. They hope that, later on, you'll copy the wrong address from your history.

Step 3 — Add and confirm your wallet

Many platforms ask you to register your wallet before the first transfer. It's a safeguard: if someone finds out your password, they can't easily send your money somewhere else.

On usdtap, for example, a new wallet only becomes active after you confirm it with a code sent by email and with two-factor authentication.

Step 4 — Send a small test amount first

The first time you use a new wallet, send a small amount first. Wait for it to arrive. Check it. Only then send the rest.

Yes, you'll pay the fee twice. Think of it as cheap insurance: if something is wrong, you lose a little, not everything. To see how much each cost weighs, read how much it costs to buy and send USDT.

Step 5 — Check everything on screen before you confirm

Before the final button, stop and read:

  1. Network: is it the same as your wallet's?
  2. Address: do the beginning and the end match?
  3. Exchange rate: how many reais per USDT?
  4. Fee: how much are you paying for the transfer?
  5. Amount that arrives: how much USDT will land in your wallet?

On many platforms, the quote is locked for only a few seconds. If the time runs out, the screen shows a new quote. That's fine: read it again and confirm calmly. Rushing is the enemy of a correct transfer.

Step 6 — Keep the hash and check it on the explorer

Once confirmed, the transfer gets a hash, also called a TXID or transaction ID. It's a unique code, like a receipt number, except that it's public.

With it, you can check the transfer on a block explorer, a public website that shows everything happening on the network:

  • on TRON, Tronscan;
  • on Ethereum, Etherscan;
  • on BNB Smart Chain, BscScan.

Paste the hash into the search bar of the right network's explorer and check four things:

  • Status: "success" or "confirmed" means the network recorded the transfer.
  • Destination (shown as "To"): it should be your wallet address.
  • Token: it should be the official USDT on that network. Scammers create fake tokens with the same name.
  • Amount: the quantity you expected.

If the platform shows a link to the explorer next to the receipt, even better: just tap it.

How to send USDT without stress: what to do if it doesn't show up

Stay calm. Follow this order:

  1. Look up the hash on the explorer. If the status is success and the destination is your address, the USDT is there.
  2. Check the network in your wallet. Some wallets only show the balance for the selected network. Switch networks or add USDT on that network to your list of coins.
  3. Wait a little. When the network is busy, confirmations take longer.
  4. Still nothing? Contact the support team of the platform that sent it and give them the hash.

If the explorer shows the USDT went to an address that isn't yours, the transfer did happen, just to somewhere else. In that case, unfortunately, there's no way to undo it.

Safe transfer checklist

Before every transfer, run through this list:

  • Wallet network written down.
  • Address copied with the button or the QR code, checked at the beginning and the end.
  • Wallet added and confirmed.
  • Test transfer done, if the wallet is new.
  • Network, address, exchange rate, fee and amount checked on screen.
  • Hash saved and checked on the explorer.

Sending with usdtap

On usdtap, your balance stays in Brazilian reais until you send. When you do, you choose a wallet you've already confirmed, see the quote locked for a few seconds, the fee and how much USDT arrives, and only then confirm. The USDT goes to your wallet on TRON, Ethereum or BNB Smart Chain, and you can check the transfer by its hash on the explorer. If you'd like to try it, create your usdtap account.

Frequently asked questions

What is a transaction hash?

It's the unique code of each transfer on the blockchain, also called a TXID. It works like a receipt number, but public: anyone can paste the hash into the network's explorer and see the status, destination and amount of the transfer.

How long does it take for USDT to reach my wallet?

Under normal conditions, from a few seconds to a few minutes after the transfer is confirmed. It can take longer when the network is busy or when the wallet waits for more confirmations before showing the balance.

Can I cancel a USDT transfer?

No. Once it's confirmed on the blockchain, the transfer is final. Not even the platform that sent it can undo it. That's why the network and address have to be checked before you press confirm.

Why send a test transfer?

Because it shows, with very little money at stake, that the network and the address are right. You pay one extra fee, but you avoid losing the whole amount because of a mistake.

I sent USDT to the wrong address. Can I get it back?

In most cases, no. If the address belongs to someone else, only that person can send it back. If it belongs to an exchange, contact them with the hash. Be wary of anyone offering to "recover crypto" for a fee: it's usually a second scam.
