Buying USDT with Pix is simpler than it looks. You send Brazilian reais by Pix to a platform, convert them into USDT and receive it in your crypto wallet. Pix is Brazil's instant payment system, created by the Central Bank: transfers between bank accounts settle in seconds, any day of the week, using a Pix key or a QR code. This guide shows you how to buy USDT with Pix step by step, what to check at each stage and which mistakes to avoid.
The price of USDT in Brazilian reais changes. This guide is for information only and is not investment advice.
If you're not sure what this coin is yet, start with what USDT is and what it's used for.
What you need before you start
- A photo ID and your phone, to take a selfie. That's how serious platforms confirm you are who you say you are. If you're a foreigner, check which ID documents the platform accepts.
- A Brazilian bank account in your name, with Pix. Banks in Brazil ask for a CPF, the Brazilian individual taxpayer number, to open one.
- A crypto wallet to receive the USDT.
- Your wallet's network, written down: TRON, Ethereum or BNB Smart Chain.

Step 1 — Choose where to buy USDT with Pix
There are exchanges and conversion services that turn reais into USDT. Before you open an account, check:
- whether the platform asks for an ID and a selfie at sign-up (one that asks for nothing is usually bad news);
- whether it shows the exchange rate and the fees before you confirm;
- whether it sends to your own wallet, on the network you use;
- whether it has official contact channels that are easy to find.
Stay away from sellers in WhatsApp or Telegram groups and from "deals" closed by message with strangers. That's where many USDT and Pix scams happen.
Step 2 — Create your account and verify your identity
At sign-up, you enter your details, upload a photo of your ID and take a selfie. Companies are usually also asked for their articles of incorporation (the contrato social), and the selfie is taken by the legal representative.
This step may feel like red tape, but it protects you: it becomes much harder for someone to open an account in your name. While you're at it, turn on two-factor authentication, a second lock on top of your password.
Step 3 — Deposit by Pix from your own CPF
Now it's time to add reais to your account. The platform shows a Pix key or a QR code, and you pay through your bank's app.
Watch out for a detail that catches many people out: the Pix must come from an account under the same CPF (or CNPJ) as your account on the platform. The CNPJ is the company equivalent of the CPF. A Pix from your spouse, a relative or a friend is usually refused and sent back. Find out why in third-party Pix: why your deposit must come from your own CPF.
Step 4 — Add your wallet
Before your first transfer, you enter the address of the wallet that will receive the USDT, along with its network.
- Copy the address with the "copy" button in your wallet app. Don't type it by hand.
- Check the first and last characters after pasting.
- Pick the right network. TRON addresses start with "T". Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain addresses start with "0x".
If you're unsure about the network, read which network to use to receive USDT.
Step 5 — Convert and check everything on screen
With your balance and wallet ready, you choose how much to convert. Before you confirm, take your time and look at:
- The exchange rate: how many reais each USDT costs right now.
- The fees being charged.
- How much USDT will arrive in your wallet.
- The destination network and address.
On many platforms, the quote is locked for only a few seconds. When the time runs out, a new quote appears. That's normal, because the price of USDT changes all the time.
Step 6 — Confirm and track the transfer
Once you confirm, the USDT is sent over the blockchain. The transfer gets a hash, the unique code of the transaction. With it, anyone can look the transfer up on a public website called a block explorer.
In most cases, the USDT shows up in your wallet within a few minutes. But remember: blockchain transfers can't be undone. That's why the check in step 5 matters so much. The first time, it's worth sending a small test amount. We show you how in how to send USDT to your wallet without mistakes.
Common mistakes when buying USDT for the first time
- Choosing the wrong network. The USDT may be lost.
- Paying the Pix from someone else's account. The deposit is returned and you lose time.
- Looking only at the fee and forgetting the exchange rate. The real cost is how much USDT arrives for what you paid. See how much it costs to buy and send USDT.
- Buying in a rush because someone asked you to do it "now". Urgency is a scammer's favorite weapon.
- Keeping your wallet's recovery phrase on your phone, or sending a photo of it to anyone.
